Stockton Rise is located in the heart of the Lockyer Valley. There is much to do in this area and you may just want to stay for a week or more to explore this very historical area or base yourself here whilst exploring nearby parts of South East Queensland. The immediate area is known as Glen Cairn. This was part of the original Cobb & Co. route with Glen Cairn Road being renamed from Old Toowoomba Road.

Take a drive or a walk around the area, or read the history – there is much early history still to be found; from the old bridge on Sandy Creek to the billabongs where the horses were watered after a day’s travel.

Looking for produce?

The Lockyer Valley is known for it’s vegetable production, being the Salad Bowl of Australia. There are many roadside stalls where you can buy fresh produce straight from the farm gate. While staying in the valley or on your way to your accommodation, stop off and buy your fresh produce ready to cook up a feast when you arrive. If you are coming from Brisbane, the Gold Coast or Ipswich, you may like to stop off at Coolana Olives just off the Warrego Highway at Minden. Here you can purchase some delicious, award winning olives for an appetiser before dinner. Arrangements can be made with Patti to do a farm tour of the local area and hear all about the crops being grown as well as picking fresh produce on the tour.
